India A Great Nation That Stands For Human Values

Freedom means different things to different people. Therefore it stands to reason that Independence also would have differing relevance… Yet, in all our differences and diversities 15th August has only one meaning – It was on this day when India chose to be Free!

At the present moment, we all seem to have forgotten the real meaning of the word, Independence. It does not bring the memories of the past to us. We got our independence through many hardships. So many lives had been sacrificed on the altar of Independence. So many people gave everything they had for this great cause inspired by our great leaders.

After 62 years of Independence, India awakens everyday to a life of fear and uncertainty. Dedication to the service of the nation is quantified by the bribes and scams committed every day, by the politicians, beauracrats and the rich citizens.

The brutality and the corruption have only made the rich more richer and the poor more poorer. Opportunities emerge only from the power of money or the stamp of caste/tribe. Politicians are creating this huge division in the society and sowing the seeds of hatred in the society.

In times when the country needs to move forward, and become one to face the challenges of the epidemics like terrorism, corruption, casteism, unemployment, population explosion we are wasting our time & resources in small, petty self interest activities.

In India, we have been used by political parties equally to incite feelings that mean nothing to our progress. Few parties support minorities and induce in them the fear of majorities, few others support majority and induce the fear of minority appeasement. Strengthening any religion is no political parties business, so should refrain from it as we have more serious work to do for this country.

We allowed ourselves to be divided by politicians for their own selfish motives for the last 62 years and now it is going to be very difficult to be united again.

Individuals should be left to their thoughts. The next similar thing to religion in our country is caste. The same applies there as well. If examples in past and present serve as examples then the writing is on the wall - Those who use people to incite on the grounds of religion, ethnicity, creed etc. Have risen for a short time and buried them selves in the dust of shame to be examples to human kind.

When we swear by Constitution is it necessary to rake up religion every time. What are we trying to achieve by such fanaticism? Are we progressing or regressing?

Is religion the issue for well being? Economic prosperity? If that being the case, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Afghanistan must be happiest nations in the world. Religion cannot feed the stomach except for the parasites who want to use it as a means.

We should build a platform to bring unity among different religion, caste and creed and not to create division among people.

No nation can move forward unless its children are taught to look squarely at their own history, the good and the bad, the evil and the pure.

Instead of blaming and counter blaming each and everybody it is time new movement is initiated to establish the new order devoid of all hatred and violence, one that stands for mutual respect and peaceful co-existence. Let peace have a chance.

If we feel religion is an outdated agenda, than probably we may need to look into the other biggest problems like population, Corruption, Terrorism, Unemployment, Equality, Ecology, Economy, Inflation & Government instability

Dr. Ambedkar said: "Let us not forget that this independence has thrown on us great responsibilities. By independence, we have lost the excuse of blaming the British for anything going wrong. If hereafter things go wrong we will have nobody to blame except ourselves. There is great danger of things going wrong. Times are fast changing. People including our own are being moved by new ideologies”

A great country is not one, which merely has a great past. Out of that past must arise, a glorious future.(Jawaharlal Nehru)

I, as a proud Indian that I am, wish to see a day when we have leaders as those who fought for freedom 62 years ago, who were unbiased and faithful to their vows and had a vision for the prosperity of the entire nation.

Independence Day is not just to celebrate for a day; it’s a day where each one of us should start changing a bit himself/herself for the sake of nation. Let us give our efforts from this day onwards and make a contribution to our nation today instead of celebrating the holiday.

On 15th August 1947, we were got freedom from British Empire.

On 15th August 2009, let’s free India from corruption, Terrorism, poverty…..
