Live Life Creatively

Be brave enough to live life creatively. The creative is where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort, and go into the wilderness of your intuition. You can't get there by bus, only by hard work and risk and by not quite knowing what you are doing. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover will be yourself.'' (Alan Alda)

Creativity has become one of those "buzz" words that everyone gives lip services to. People ask, How can creativity be fostered? Is it possible to give exercises for creativity? Is creativity something that can be trained or taught?

Swami Sukhabodhananda says, Life has all the ingredients. Be creative. Don't let yourself feel victimised. You might think that what is easy is beautiful; that what is easy is joy. You are a victim of such illusions. Difficulty has such a joy. Discovery has such a joy. Seeking out has such a joy.

A young boy left his home in search of creativity. He met many people; he became richer in awareness of his ignorance. One day, a monk came to him. He asked: "What do you want, my son?" "I want to know what is the importance of creativity in life?," he replied. "Go to the town. The first three persons that you meet will make you to understand the importance of Creativity," the monk replied.

The boy went to the town. The first man he met was doing carpentry work. The next man he met was doing sheet metal work. The third man he met was making strings. Disappointed, he sat on the bank of a river. Suddenly, he heard the sweet strains of violin music. Something mysterious touched him. He suddenly got the answer he was looking for and he started dancing.

The carpenter was preparing the wood for the violin. The sheet metal worker was preparing metal for the strings and the strings were meant for the violin. Life has everything; all you need is to be able to connect the dots. You need to work out new combinations. And for that you need creative perception.

The great sage Willy Wonka once said, Creativity isn't just about being an artist. Being creative is about making art out of your life.

Acts of creativity can be found in every facet of life. We are surrounded by the byproducts of creative ideas, both big and small. And the small acts of creativity are no less important than the big ones. In fact, the more creative you are with the small things in your life, the more creative you will likely be with the big things.

Creativity is a mindset, not an accomplishment. The creative mindset is basically an everlasting devotion to approaching various problems and circumstances in innovative ways. Three core traits sit at the foundation of creativity: awareness, confidence and enthusiasm. These are the three pillars of creativity.

Creativity lies in its freshness, its freedom, its newness. Creativity is often unexpected and exciting. It involves seeing things in new ways and breaking rules.

I would argue that there can be no program, no system of training or education for creativity. Whatever boundary we draw around it, something else that is totally creative will emerge in a different place. Creativity is not a skill; it is not a sort of muscle of the brain, or a technology of the mind. Creativity makes use of knowledge and skill but that is not where its roots lie.

Creativity is perfectly natural. We should not ask how to be creative, rather we must question why we are not being creative! Creativity is the essence of life, of evolution, of consciousness, of nature and of matter.

Jonathan Schattke asks a very important question, The universe itself is in a constant act of creation so, as its children, we should ask ourselves- Why, in such a creative universe, do societies and some individuals at times appear to be stupid, dull, destructive and uncreative?--Or are we deceived? Are people really dull--or is their creativity simply being shown in other ways? Are we all, in fact, creative--and is it just that there are certain blocks which seem to frustrate us in certain areas of our lives? Do we all have the potential for creativity no matter how old we are?

The root of all personal creative development is being brave and bold enough to experiment, and willing to evolve and change. In what ways do you experiment, take risks and scribble outside the lines in your creative life.

We simply can’t have a happy creative life if we produce the same piece of work over and over again. Creative development is essential to having a rewarding creative life.

Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes & having fun. ( Mary Lou Cook )
