26 / 11 - Salutes To The Brave Heroes Of Our Nation.

The people who have really made history are the martyrs.

As we all know that last year November 26, the entire country was shattered with the terror attacks on Mumbai. Almost every Indian had a lump in their throats and eyes full of tears, as they witnessed three terrible days of terror.

26/11 has been deeply etched in my memory. I was watching the television in various channels that captured all the moments in their camera during those three days.

When the first footages of the attack in the Police Station were revealed, I sincerely appreciate & salute the braveness of the Policemen that they didn't withdraw even when the terrorists where continually firing at them. I had seen the footages on several television channels when they were first released.

Those three days that spelt mayhem in the lives of several innocent people. The brave police force and the army men who fought bravely to protect the victims and the spirit of the country. An array of emotions was witnessed by people all over. Moments of joy when hostages were rescued and sorrow when brave soldiers and officers laid their lives, saving the country.

According to the captured terrorist, they had planned to kill more than five thousand people and completely destroy the Taj. But, their all plans went in vain as the police force & commandos immediately entered the game of life and death. The captured terrorist also said that they knew that the security personnels in the Railway Station were unarmed. They had planned to directly attack them & kill as many people.

We are very grateful to have such men amongst us during the testing times. We should indeed celebrate the compassion and bravery of those who chose to defend the innocent, knowing they may forfeit their lives. May their bravery and compassion be remembered and honoured.

After one year, It is nice to read in the news papers that the political and police establishments claim to have made improvements in all related spheres and fields. Coastal policing has begun. Intelligence networks have been strengthened and intelligence sharing has been made more effective and fruitful.

On the other side though one year has passed and we have just been able to file charge-sheet against Amir Ajmal Kasab the lone survivor out of the ten terrorists. Nothing much has come out, 26/11 guilty are still unpunished. So far keeping Ajmal Kasab alive has cost the nation Rs 31 crore and is still continuing.

Such slow & week judicial approach towards terrorism have cost us so dearly that we cannot afford this attitude any longer. Our image of toleration has misunderstood as our weakness. We must stand firm & tall to ensure that no one, especially our neighboring countries dare attack our country.

Today there will be speeches, ceremonies to honour the martyrs. But do we really need politicians to attend the ceremonies to honour the martyrs of our country? If the politicians dont attend the ceremonies, does the sacrifice of the soldiers become less significant…?

It is very unfortunate & sad to see when the martyr’s families don’t get recognition & support from the society. We do not recognize & forget the brave efforts of our young & brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. Recently I read in a news paper that a young martyr's wife was mistreated at a public function. We need to remember their sacrifices and should give tribute to those soldiers who fought with bravery and compassion.

And finally tomorrow Muslims all over world are celebrating the Eid ul Azha (Bakrid) A festival of sacrifice. The entire community should take a pledge to sacrifice themselves fighting against all sorts of terrorism. The time has come for the Indian Muslims to rise against the terrorists & unite as a one nation to build a prosperous, peaceful and harmonious INDIA.

I pay my sincere tribute to those brave officers and soldiers who have laid down their lives for the nation and also to the innocent people who have lost their lives. May their souls rest in peace. I pray for their family also. I also pray that such disastrous events should not occur in the future.

The Tryant dies and his rule is over, the Martyr dies and his rule begins.
