Kashmir will always be a part of India.
Recently the writer and activist Arundhati Roy's statements ‘Kashmir was never an integral part of India‘stirred wide-spread controversy. But however she reiterated that her words echo what “millions of people say (in Kashmir) every day.
This is not the first time the author of Booker prize winner Arundhati Roy has spoken against India and its policies despite the fact that she is an Indian. Earlier she made news by raising a hue and cry to save the Naxalites and supported the violent struggle by Maoists saying them as Gandhi but with guns. These are just merely a publicity stunts. Now once again she is again back to making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Arundhati Roy In her speech in Srinagar where she said that she pities the nation that "needs to jail those who ask for justice" and asserted that Kashmir is not an integral part of India. Her so-called "call for Justice" may give some oxygen to Kashmiri separatists and their supporters, but, equally hurts the patriotic sentiments people all across India. Maybe after the Booker Prize, she is now aiming Nobel Prize. She got booker prize by novel criticizing communist movement.
Our Indian Constitution guarantees freedom of speech but it does not give a license for anti-national statements. Freedom should be used carefully to empower democracy and not to destroy it. She has gone too far this time. No one can be allowed to work against national interests. Democracy doesn't mean one can indulge in senseless propaganda. This should be curbed at all levels and at all costs
When I turned the pages of Indian History, I found that Jammu & Kashmir was part of Maharaja Ranjit SIngh in 1819. He fought and won it from the Mughals. Punjab was and is an integral part of India. If J&K was ruled by Mughals as part of Hindustan, won-over by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and annexed by the British in 1854, hence J&K is an integral part of Hindustan / India.
The author Arundhati Roy is not realizing the pain she is inflicting on people of India through her statements like these. First she should study the history of accession of Jammu & Kashmir to India and then give statements.
Kashmir will always be a part of India. Many innocent Indian citizens & our brave soldiers died & hurt during the recent unrest in Kashmir. We are paying a huge price to remain united since Independence. Those forces that work to divide us, those forces that talk of independent Kashmir and those forces that talk of joining Pakistan, we have to defeat them at all cost.
