Mother Teresa - God's Gift To Humanity

Mother Teresa dedicated her life to the cause of humanity. A gentle human and full of energy, apostle of love devoted to the slums of Calcutta, who become a respected and loved citizen of the world. Mother Teresa would have turned 100 years old on 26th August 2010. Her life and work continue to be an inspiration for young and old, rich and poor from all walks of life, religions and nations.

Everyday we see the shameless politicians celebrate their birthday at the expense of someone Else's money and life. That has become the way of life of politicians in India. After a long time I am feeling happy to celebrate Mother's birth centenary. Let us celebrate Mother’s birth centenary by sharing the joy of loving and being loved. Let us pray to know better God's love for us.

It’s nice to know that world is celebrating Mother’s 100th anniversary. A Mother Teresa postage stamp will go on sale in the United States on Thursday, with similar initiatives in Austria, Kosovo and Monoco. France has coined four collector-edition coins, one showing Mother Teresa with Pope John Paul II.

Mother Teresa relics will be displayed for veneration in the Midwest United States and Canada. And many novenas will be held in Calcutta and in other places.

In India, The Indian Railways plans to launch a train named after Mother Teresa to mark the birth centenary of the humanitarian icon. The new train, Mother Express, will be introduced on August 26, the 100th birth anniversary of Mother Teresa.

Amar Chitra Katha (ACK), the publisher of Tinkle Digest and illustrated mythological books, will launch a book on Mother Teresa on August 26 to celebrate her 100th birth anniversary.

The book will narrate how Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, an Albanian by birth, made India her home and worked towards alleviating poverty and loneliness. After her death in 1997, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II and given the title blessed Teresa of Calcutta.

The 40-page storybook which has been about 10 months in the making entailed the researcher and scriptwriter Shalini Srinivasan working closely with Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata. The book has been illustrated by Sri Lankan artist Atula Siriwardane, who has drawn many ACK Media titles.

Mother Teresa is more than just a woman of great virtue and vision. She was truly a modern day saint whose holiness touched an entire world. Today, Mother Teresa's work is being carried on by the over five thousand members of the Sisters of Charity. With missions worldwide, the Sisters of Charity minister to the poor on six continents, continuing the selfless legacy that Mother Teresa spent her long life establishing.

"Keep the joy of loving God in your heart and share this joy with all you meet especially your family. Be holy – let us pray." (Mother Teresa)
