My Most Awaited Bollywood Films of 2013!

INKAAR: Contemporary films are always welcome, especially from seasoned directors. Sudhir Mishra’s Inkaar, dealing with sexual harassment at workplaces, seems immensely interesting from the promos and the poster and Arjun Rampal and Chitrangda Singh’s sizzling chemistry will make for a great watch hopefully.

RACE 2: Race was one of the best suspense thrillers to have come out of Bollywood. No wonder that Race 2 is being hugely awaited. The promos lacked the Race-type factor and so did the songs. But with Abbas-Mustan at the helm of affiars and talented and glamorous stars comprising the principal cast, here’s hoping Race 2 turns out to be as good or even better than part 1 in terms of action, glamour, humour and most importantly, suspense!

DAVID: A well-edited and presented promo can go a long way in creating excitement for a film, even if the movie doesn’t boast of A-listers. David confirms this fact and its first look trailers have blown away the viewers. Its director Bejoy Nambiar showed his brilliance with Shaitan and with David, he seems to have gone a step higher. Neil Nitin Mukesh looks dashing in a role that reminds one of his smashing debut film, Johnny Gaddaar. Tabu, Chiyaan Vikram, Isha Sharvani and others form the rest of the cast.

SPECIAL 26: Neeraj Pandey’s A Wednesday was outstanding. Pandey’s Special 26 might go the similar way, if the trailer is any indication. Akshay Kumar continues to be in his larger than life avatar but at the same time, his character seems realistic and convincing – a balance difficult to achieve. Manoj Bajpayee seems in top form and it would to be exciting to witness the Akshay v/s Manoj drama, a la Catch Me If You Can!

CHENNAI EXPRESS: Shahrukh Khan, Rohit Shetty, Deepika Padukone – these are enough reasons for a moviegoer to wait with bated breath for Chennai Express. Nothing is sure but it would be great to see SRK indulging in Rohit Shetty-kind of stunts and over the top humour. Maybe, this would be that one film that would bring him back in the topmost league after his recent films proved to be underperformers.

HAPPY NEW YEAR: Farah Khan is back with Shah Rukh Khan for Happy New Year, a film that will create the highest buzz once it’s complete and ready for release. According to Farah herself, there are 5 male actors in the film (two of them being SRK and Boman Irani). It’s unsure whether this film would make it this year though. There are plans of the maker to make crucial announcement about the film on Jan 1, which is, a Happy New Year day!

SHOOTOUT AT WADALA: Sanjay Gupta will be back with his old form with Shootout At Wadala, though Sanjay Dutt will be missed. John Abraham plays the villain along with Manoj Bajpayee, Sonu Sood, Siddhant Kapoor while Ronit Roy, Mahesh Manjrekar and the very young Anil Kapoor shall essay the role of cops. Gupta gets gutsy this time as he’ll be using real names of the gangsters and cops, unlike Shootout At Wadala. Releases on May Day!

ZILA GHAZIABAD: Starring Vivek Oberoi, Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Minissha Lamba, Ravi Kissen, Divya Dutta and Charmy Kaur, the film is loosely based on real-life gang war of Ghaziabad. With an interesting premise and ensemble star cast, the film seems promising but constant reports on the in-fighting going on between the makers and actors have affected the prospects of the film.

THE ATTACKS OF 26/11: Ram Gopal Varma’s the butt of many jokes but no one can deny he can surprise anytime and make, what people term, a ‘comeback’. The Attacks Of 26/11 hopefully would be that film that might get RGV back on track. The seven minute opening sequence of the film has been released and has created waves. Reportedly, the theatrical trailer is extremely shocking and violent and that the film will lead to massive debates, controversies and god forbid, a ban. Let’s hope for the best.

HIMMATWALA: Feel free to laugh/mock me because I feel Sajid Khan’s one of the best filmmakers in Bollywood! His confidence towards his products is legendary and I love the way he understands the pulse of the audience. He proved his worth with Heyy Babyy, Housefull, Housefull 2 and I am very confident he’ll excel with Himmatwala wherein he teams up with Ajay Devgn. Southern superstar and hottie Tamannaah makes her debut with this film. The 80s is back!

ANKUR ARORA MEDICAL CASE: The title of the film appealed to me a lot! The film, based on a true story, is about medical negligence – a very relatable topic. Hate Story hottie Paoli Dam features in the film (but won’t be sizzling around) and also Kay Kay Menon, Tisca Chopra, Arjun Mathur and Vishaka Singh.

EK THI DAAYAN: I can’t recollect any A-grade Bollywood film based on witches and that’s the reason why I am immensely curious about Ek Thi Daayan. Also the star cast is too tempting – Emraan Hashmi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Huma Qureshi and Kalki Koechlin. It would be especially great if we get to see Emraan romancing Konkona in his own lovable style!
